It's only been a couple generations since Korea was primarily an agrarian economy and Koreans remember that era with some sense of nostalgia. Many Koreans in the city maintain what are called "weekend farms" located on vacant land near the city which the owners have subdivided into plots and rented out.
This is one of those "weekend farm" places about a 10-minute drive/30-minute walk from our apartments (just past Nojeok Hill) where Myunghee is trying her hand at various vegetables. So far, she's doing a great job, and having a good time doing it, too!
