Heeee’s Baaaack! Former Mayor of Ansan Runs for Office from Jail… Or Not…

Several days ago this multi-story campaign poster went up on a building near my office. It's for the former mayor of Ansan who is currently sitting in jail awaiting trial on charges of corruption. But with the Ansan mayoral election coming up next Wednesday, his backers got him onto the ballot as an independent. Though he can't campaign in person, he wasn't giving up! His sign below says, "The last four years of achievements – I'll be judged by the votes!"…

Well, I guess not.

I found out this morning he agreed to stand down (again, in a virtual sense) in order not to dilute the votes of the Hanara Party and so he's out of the race. Presumably, this sign is gone now too….
